    Pokemon Diamond & Pearl

Diamond and Pearl? The first normal style Pokemon games for the DS.

Diamond and Pearl, or d/p for short, has many new features, since the DS card has much, much more space on it than the old GBA cartridges. D/P reintroduces the day/night function from G/S/C. It retains the berry function, and to avoid the berry glitch, much like the glitch in Ruby/Sapphire, d/p uses the DS?s inbuilt clock for the time. It also retains the girl and boy characters and double battling features of the 3rd Generation.

D/P also introduces with it 107 new pokemon, making the total number of Pokemon today 493. D/P also features 3D graphics, although these don?t work to well on the DS, and structures in the game become quite pixeled, although they look good. Another amazing feature that d/p introduces is wifi compatibility. Wifi allows players to trade, battle, and mix records over the internet. D/P also introduces the GTS, which allows players to ?upload? pokemon to it, and then other players can search for pokemon and trade pokemon regardless whether the other player is online if the pokemon that they want to trade meets the specifications of the player that uploaded the pokemon.

Because the DS cartridges have much more space than the old cartridges, the storyline of d/p is much longer than any other Pokemon game. Yes, there are still eight gyms, but there are numerous side quests that require a lot of time to complete, if you are not doing a speed run.

With the anger expressed by Pokemon fans last time after the transition from 2nd to 3rd generations, in which many well trained Pokemon were left behind, d/p introduces Palpark, which allows the player to move pokemon from 3rd gen games to D/P.

Another feature that D/P introduces is not really a feature, but a change more so. In D/P some pokemon have different sprites depending on gender, location, time of day, or weather effect. For example; a female wooper has longer antennas than a male wooper.
